Schools

Musical Storytime offers an exciting and valuable opportunity for children to experience live music, storytelling and theatre. We have great fun presenting our shows to a range of children who have responded most enthusiastically. You will see a sample of their comments in the reviews section.

  • A professional service and close liaison with the school are guaranteed.
  • Performers are CRB checked and combine performing with work in education.
  • Our shows are suitable for Reception - year 5.
  • Performance time approximately 65 minutes.

Extension and Follow-Up.

We provide teachers with programme notes and ideas for extension and follow-up work. Our performances and follow-up work cover many aspects of the Literacy Framework.

Workshops

There is the additional option to arrange workshops and these normally follow a Musical Storytime show. Our workshops are designed to suit the individual needs of the school and are usually based on aspects of one of the stories presented in the show.

We prefer to work with single or split classes, alongside the teacher if possible, in order to focus on aspects of acting, stagecraft or singing, or a combination of these based on a set theme, which could be linked to the curriculum. We have found that this produces the best results, both at the time and in any follow up work. The hands on experience, with our additional support, also enables the teacher to develop and extend this kind of project in a practical way. A workshop will culminate with a short, informal presentation by the children to an audience, if appropriate.

  • Our workshops are suitable for Years 2 - 4.
  • A Musical Storytime show with workshop lasts one half-day.
